Palmerston North will shortly take a poll on the question of raising a loan of £61,C00 to provide a tram service. A conference between representatives of the New Zealand Federation of Labor and the Shearers’ Union was held at the Christchurch Trades’ Hall on Thursday and Friday for the purpose of discussing the. control of the monthly publication, “The Maoriland Worker.” It was decided that the journal shoula henceforward be controlled by the Federation and should be its official organ, the Shearers’ Union having affiliated with the Federation. Arrangements were also made for the publication of the journal weekly at an early ■ date.
