MYSTERY OF A HUMAN LEG
MELBOURNE, Jan. 25.—1 n connection with the portion of a human leg recently discovered at Oarrum, it transpires that a boy found it while fishing, and placed it in a bag. The leg is now supposed to belong to some person drowned in the bay.
WIRELESS IN THE INDIAN OCEAN
PERTH, Jan. 25.—Ceylon advices state that the Government of the island have erected a wireless telegraph station near Point de Guile. This, with the stations at Cocos Island and Froemantle, will keep the mail steamers in touch with the land during the whole of the voyage from Colombo to Freemantle. A NEW UNIVERSITY. Seven hundred motions are on the business paper. IMPORTS AND EXPORTS. MELBOURNE, This Day.—The Commonwealth imports last year were £59,456,238, an increase over the previous year of £8,284,342. The exports were £74,497,627, an increase of £9,178,591. FROZEN MEAT TRADE. BRISBANE, This Day.—The following items are supplied by the Commonwealth cable service : —lt is understood that the Swiss Government intends to authorise cities, possessing freezing facilities under State control, to import frozen meat, but a permanent permit to import will not be granted at present.
