BOXING. FEATHER-WEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP. In commenting on the fight for the Australasian feather-weight championship, Mr. Steve Hinchey, the manager of the Queensland team, writes: — The final of the feather weight brought W. Shields, of New Zealand, and J. Reid, of New South Wales, together, the former absolutely outclassed Read in every department of the game, but the judges again failed to agree, and another round being ordered, the championship was handed to Read. A very mixed reception was accorded the verdict, and the New South Wales representative is a fortunately lucky boy, and though not reflecting upon his behaviour in the ring, I unhesitatingly say that Mr. Shields was done an unpardonable injustice bv being asked to box another round. Had Queensland feather weight won under the same circumstances, I would have deemed it imperative on principle to refuse the championship, which had not been won, though given.
