He and his wife make a journey 'to the Antarctic in the Terra Nova; They then return to New Zealand-and accompany the relief expedition in Decern be*'. Next year- the expedition at a certain point splits into four parties. Captain Scott goes to the pole ; other parties go to King Edward Seventh Land, Victoria Land and Beardmore Glacier respectively. The last party besides prospecting for other minerals will make a search for gold. According to Mr Thompson the country resembles Alaska and there is every possibility of gold being found. If it is discovered in commercial quantities there are not insuperable difficulties against working it.
