Mr 11. Raymond left for America to take charge of a new dredge that is being built for the Argentine. Say.- last evening's Kuniara Times: — It is reported that the Rev. 11. 8. Leach has resigned his position as vicar of the Hokitika parish. Mr Thomas W. Rapley has been appointed organiser for ilc- Liberal Party throughout New Zealand in sunceession to Mr E, Gallichan. Mr W. F. Massey, M.P., Leader of the Oposition, airiw-s in Greymouth from Christchureli to-night, lie will be accompanied by Mr Martin, organiser of the Conservatives. Out of twenty-eight applicants, Mr A. •I. Gleary, chief clerk of the Tramway Department of the Wellington City Corporation, lias been appointed Town Clerk for the Borough of Feilding. Mr John Barrowman, engineer for the Nelson Harbor Works, and for many years a resident of this town, is on a short visit. He is greatly taken with the improvements that have been made since his iast visit to these parts. Mr Gilbert Cunningham, well known throughout the West Coast among dredging men, left for America on Friday last on business connected with dredging in the Argentine. Ha carries with him the best wishes for his success from a large number of friends. |
! Mr M. Eggleton, of Kumara, who expects to bo ..■ailed away to his duties at Parliament .shortly, has handed in his resignation as a Borough Councillor of Kumara to the Town Clerk. During the several years Mr Eggleton has sat at the Council table he has displayed an independent spirit and has itclligently watched the interests of the burgesses." The many friends of Mr J'. J. Dunne (formerly editor of the West Coast Times) will be interested to learn that he has several his connection with the Horowhenua Chronicle Company, Levin, and taken over the Ohakuno Express. Ohakune is a rising township on the Main Trunk line, and Mr Dunne's business is said to be a lucrative one. His friends throughout the West Coagt will wish him every success in his venture.
The Nelson Citizens' Band have been without a conductor for some months, but the many supporters of the Band will bo pleased to learn that the latter have socured the services of Mr Thoa. Scott. Mr Scott for many years was a member of the Nelson Garrison Band. Then he took a position as conductor of the Granity Creek Band, West Coast, remaining there for about two years, till he returned to Nelson, and doubtless ho will work hard to make the band efficient,
