WESTLAND HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID BOARD.
The first meeting > of the above Board was held at Hokitika yesterday. The first business was the election of a chairman, for which the voting was as un‘lVf: 7, Bock 6, Toonicy 5, b'hfton 5 and Brine 4.
A ballot for third place was necessary, as .Messrs Tourney and Clifton tied. Result Clifton 6, Toomey 3.
'I he number was then reduced to two, (he voting being Bock 6. McCnigan 6. Ciiftc-i 6. It was resolved to reduce the number to one. the voting being MeGnigan 4, Clifton 4. Bock 1. ' Another ballot was necessary, and the final resulted:— Mcfluigan 5. Clifton 4. The Secretary then declared Mr MeOnigau duly elected for the ensuing twelve months. .Mr Peake (secretary to the old Board) was appointed secretary,,at £2OO per annum. Messrs Murdoch and Kennedy were appointed a committee to control’(lie hospital at Knniara, and Mr Bruce for (be Ross institution.
Mr Clifton moved that all hospital minuiiMees bo asked to continue in office, and that (lie usual commissions lie allowed the secretaries on amounts collected. Seconded '>y Mr Buck and carried.
