"Althrmch a considerable.sum was spent on the links during the off season the finances still .-bow a small credit. The Committee regrets, however, that there .vpvp a number of subscriptions outstandug at the close of the year and ho]ic to rcroivp same iihortlv. -A ..00/l deal of work was done at the links during the recess and the members ••ill feel the benefit of it during the coni- .),.. season. Through the courtesy of the Jockey Club several trees were topped at ihe first hole, and considerable improvements effected at the second ami thirteenth boles and a lot of -general work carried ,ut throughout the links, so the club may look for a successful season. "The ibanks of the Club are due to the i'ii.-tees of the Greymouth Jockey Club or privilces accorded and to club members for trophies presented, and which were competed for during the season. "The Committee also wish to p !i . ice °" record their appreciation of courtesies exceeded bv the proprietors of the Argus and <\:<r in "publishing notices of the Club's doings, etc. "The ladies are entitled to our nest thanks for their kindness and assistance in the matter of luncheons and afternoon leas during the season, their efforts heme; much appreciated by visiting and local \> la vers. "Puriii" the season a considerable num'.oi- of competitions were held, ami a deal of interest, was taken in the same by the members. The men's championship was won by Mr P. A. Abbie, who also won the West Coast Championship held at Hoi>itil-n. . , . ! Mr Lewi 1 ! was runner-up in the local championship. The ladies' championship ■ was won by Miss M. Blackmore, Miss E Bevrv beiiif? runner-up. "In the B Division Miss V. Smith was the winner, Miss M. Kerr being runner''Onr club received visits from Hokitika and Westporfc teams during the season, , n .i wo in turn sent a team to Hokitika, when some very interesting games reulted. ' . . .., -Tip Committee have arranged with Mi- Herd, of Christehineh, to visit Greymouth from Ist to 30th May to coach our nlavers. and it is certain his services will be in threat demand. As a result of bis visit the standard of play will no doubt be improved, especially amongst the more recent players. . , "The ladies have this year joined the Todies' Golf Union, and all their matches will now be played under the Ladies' Golf ITTnion rules and handicaps, and it is confidently expected that srreat interest will be taken in their matehes."
