David Anderson and Son, grocers, wore charged at the Police Court yesterday with selling liquor in less quantities than two gallons. The liquor was ginger ale, which was found to contain 34.19 ner cent of alcohol. A fine of 20s and costs was imposed. Defendants said that they acted unwittingly. A LOVER’S REWARD. LYTTELTON, August 27.—John Bailey was committed for sentence to the Supreme Court for burglary, with intent to commit a crime. He had been pursuing a girl with unwelcome attentions for a considerable time, and on Wednesday morning attempted to break into her bedroom by the window. CRUELTY TO DUMB ANIMALSASHBURTON, August 27.
