THE MISSING MAN.
NO TRACE OF R. BAXTER..
The search party for Mr. Richard Baxter, returned to Rcefton last night, after finding the horse and trap at the junction of Adams' Creek and the Little Grey. The horse was still in the harness and had not got loose from the trap in its struggles while being washed down the river. No trace, whatever, could be found of Mr. Baxter. Provided the river falls a large search party has been organised lor Sunday next. During tho absence of Mr. Baxter advice had been received from the head office of the Singer Coy. notifying him of his transfer to the Masterton branch, and he was to hav:left lleefti.n today t'<r his new srliere. Great regret i* felt by all, for the untimely end (as all hope of finding him is abandoned) of such an energetic young man. He was a native of England. Nothing is known of any relatives in the dominion. The police to-day are searching the beach.
