Mr Douglas Young, the British Vice Consul, in his annual report on German East Africa presents a terrible picture of the Herrero rebellion from 1905 till 1907 during which time it: is 'estimated- that 120,000 native men, women and children perished whilst 75,000 were the victims of War and pestilence in the famine year ending March 1907 alone.. Mr Douglas adds that the remembrance is likely to restrain the present generation renewing hostilities with the protecting power. /
