WICLLINGTON, Jan 27. Hie .Minister of Justice (lion. J)r. J' indlav) left for the South to-night h.V the -Maori, lie will represent the -Ministry at tlie banquet to Mr G. \V. Russell, the newly elected member for Avon, and will also attend to numerous departmental matters in Christchurch during his stay, including an inspection of the Lyttelton gaol. ‘ He expects to return on Saturday or Sunday.
Hie Hon. R. McKenzie (Minister of Mines) returned from Huntly to-night niter his successful meditation in tlie Waikato Coal Mining dispute. He leaves to-morrow morning for Nelson to attend Several gatherings of his constituents in celebration of his appointment to the Ministry. Tib also intends to take the opportunity of inspecting tlie construction works on the Tadmor section of the Nelson-Tndmor line. Upon his return to Wellington about February 7th he will spend n few days dealing with departmental matters and will then leave for Auckland to settle the much debated question of the route of the North Auckland railway.
