The friends of Mr Ernest Falckoner of Blaketown, will regret to hear that he lias been laid up for several weeks past. The following pasoiigors arrived from Christchurch last night: Mesdames F. Gibson, Whittaker, Pane, Dcbonham, William- Goss, Brown, i Clarke, Hopgoodp Gr Millar. , Mr George Anderson, of Greymoutli, and formerly of Reefton, and -Mr Alex Williams, of Cobden,. who have been visiting England, returned to town on Monday last after a most enjoyable trip. Mr E. A. Scott, Inspector of Schools for the Grey* District, returned from a visit to the North Island by the Mapourika yesterday, where he lias been visiting his sister who lias been very ill. We are pleased learn that she has now recovered. The Timber Merchants and Sawmillers’ Conference ; having ended yesterday afternoon ; Messrs, ; (C.; H. Ker and J. T. Brown whp : ,}iave been attending it left fori'.Christchurch by train and coach this morning.

Mr J. Noble, headmaster of the Taylorville School is " expected home next Tuesday evening by the Express, lie having been absent on leave during" which time he has ■ taken to himself a wife with whom he has been touring parts of the North and . We wish the bride and bridegroom every happiness and our wishes will he shared by all Mr Noble’s friends in this district, j ’■ The many friends of Mr and Mrs Wrm Morris, of this town,- will regret to learn of the dangerous illness of their eldest son, who is seventeen years of age. To-day a slight improvement is manifest. Along iWitlii their friends, we extent our sympathy,,to the parents in their sad trouble and trhst that it will not be long ere the lad is restored to good health. Miss Barry, \Vlio‘ has bfefen connected with the Greymoutli Hospital for some years, has tendered her resignation, having accepted ah' iirip'ortant position in Miss Freeman’s private hospital at Palmerston North. ■ ; For some years, Miss Barry has liep nurse at the local hospital and has fulfilled her duties with marked ability. She speedily won the e£teeM- ! ahT‘regard of all with whom she came in contact. Aa a nursis, she is noted for her kind painstaking and capable manner. Her many Greymoutli friends 'will wish her every success iii the future. •
