THE GENERAL ELECTION.
' the Bruce Herald says:—ln regard to candidates for. Bruce, Mr W. D. Mason is I willing to contest the seat with Mr James Allen, but leaves the matter in the hands of his party. Mr Thomas Mackenzie, whose name was in other quarters associated with the coming Bruce election, Willi not, be a candidate. Mr Mosley will not stand. Mr J. C. Anderson is being a&ongly urged to stand, and Mr Peter McSkimming is being sounded in the matter. The only one willing to stand is the one the party does not seem to want, and that, too, after the good fight he put up at the last election . Mr Dugald Maspherson has definitely decided to contest the Wallace seat at the forthcoming election. Mr Macpherson states (says the Otautau Standard) ho has received abundant offers of support to warrant the step he is taking, and purposes commencing his campaign in earnest in ample time to allow for his compassing the whole electorate and addressing the electors.
Mr F. W. Lang (Oppositionist) addressed his constituents at Onehunga last night, and asserted that the legislation of last session had not improved the position for people desiring to go on the land. Mr Lang was occorded a vote of thanks and confidence.'
