May 20.—VVainui, ss, 411 tons, Captain Evans, for Westport, Nelson and lington. The Eunice is still barbound at Hokitika. . The Petone sailed for Wellington early this morning. ' The Wainui sailed for the north at 1.10 a.m. this morning. The Kittawa and Eosamond will probably leave Wellington to-night. Both steamers load at Greymonth. The Kotuku leaves for Lyttelton tonight. The Taieri will leave for Timaru tomorrow night. Captain Read, late acting master of the Manapouri, is to take command of the Kini. . Captain Lambert, who is on sick leave, is makimg satirfMtory progreis towards recovery, and expects to rejoin the Arahura on Saturday neSt. The Defender had not arrived at Wellington last evening, therefore her departure has been postponed until to-morrow night, when she leaves Wellington for Picton and Hokitika. As unfavourable news regarding the Okarito bar was received yesterday, the Jario Douglas did not proceed. She will probably discharge her Okarito cargo, and load to-morrow for southern ports.
The brigantino River Boyne was towed into port yesterday afternoon, after a sixteen davs' journey from Wellington. The vessel s'ifi'hted Greymouth when eight days out',' but bad' weather setting in it was deemed advisable to put to sea. The vessel only got into the offing again yesterday. After discharging, she loads white pine for Sydney.
