The returns are still incomplete, but the latest estimate gives tho state of the parties as follows : Opposition 27 Ministerial ......... 24 Labor 19 Independent 2 Mr Philip (the leader of the Opposition) declares that there is more likelihood of Mr Kidston coming to an understanding with the Labor Party than with his party. An arrange ment, however, will be difficult to formulate and so' likely to terminate absolutely that he predicts another election within twelve months.
