REEFTON WESLEYAN CHURCH BAZAAR.

(Out Own Correspondent.) The above bazaar was opened ou Friday afternoon by W ■ H. Bowater, Esq., County Chairman. There was a large attendance, and the hall very beautifully decorated and arranged. Two stalls were stocked with plain needlework of every description and decidedly useful. Another stall was devoted to cushions and table centres, where everything pertaining to these lines were temptingly displayed, while a fourth stall was devoted to dolls and dolls’ clothing, bags, pin cushions and all manner of fancy needlework, the centre being occupied with a minature Christmas tree. A refreshment room was also in evidence, where everything in season, with afternoon tea, was dispensed. The stage was in the hands of the young men, who had a splendid display of -useful and fancy articles, flowers and ferns in pots, stores, paintings and pictures, etc., in an endless variety. Several side shows occupied every available corner, the bran tub, flower stall and post office each doing good business. Altogether the bazaar presented a good apeparance, the goods offered being all new, bright and good value, and wo must congratulate the promoters on so successful an affair.

The Rev, ,Mr Voalie, in a few appropriate remarks, staled he had great pleasure in introducing Mr W. [[, Bowater (the County Chairman), who had so kindly consented to open the bazaar.

Mr Bowater, on rising, stated be was extremely pleased to be present that afternoon. As everyone in the room was fully aware, the object of the bazaar was to supplement (he funds of the new Wesley Church Building Fund, and lu> sincerely hoped it would have the sympathy and practical support of all. The Trustees and the congregation in general were certainly to be congratulated on the splendid building they were erecting, which was a credit to the town of Reefton. and he could even go further and say to any town in the colony. (Applause.) One special feature in the bazaar, he noticed, was that the articles were marked in plain figures, so that purchasers could rely on getting full value for their money. Ho congratulated the management, committee on the splendid display of work of every description shown, and concluded by wishing the promoters every success. (Applause.) During the afternoon good brisk business was done at Uio stalls. The bazaar closed from 5 to 7, when it reopened, and during (he evenin'* to closing time all the stall-holders were kept busy, the ball being packed until 11 oclock. Tlie sale was continued on Saturday.
