FEMALE FRANCHISE DESIRED

[BT ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH—COPYRIGHT. * [pee peess association.] THE LADIES HISS THE PREMIER. SUBSEQUENTLY HOLD MASS MEETINGS. LONDON, May 20. Sir H. C. Bannerman, replying to a deputation of 550 women suffragists who waited upon him at the Foreign Office, with a manifesto representing 760,000 signatures, said the deputation was conclusive evidence of an irrefutable case. The Government, however, were not united as to the expediency of acting in the matter, and he must, therefore, preach patience. His reply was hissed. Meetings of protest were subsequently held on the Thames Embankment and Trafalgar Square.
