A very enjoyable social was given to the sailors in port by tho W.C.T.U. on Tuesday evening. The President (Mrs Gaskin) spoke a few words of welcome, and expressed pleasure at seeing so many present. The following took part in the programme: Songs, Mesdiunes Ned, Parkinson, Messrs Cliunn, F. Lawn and 1 judaic; recitations-Miss R. Taylor and Mr Lewlon; piano solo-Miss 15. Parkinson. Ensign Green gave a short address. Refreshments were handed round, and a nleasant evening closed by singing the sailor's livi.ni, and the Rev. Mr McNicoll pronouncing the benediction. Tho usual weekly dance takes place at Cobdcn this evening in the Skatng Rink.
