THE NEW ZEALAND POULTRY JOURNAL.

To-day the Star office ,has been . a scene- of activity and excitement. An increased staff has' been, engaged in the folding, wrapping and posting of the second issue of the Netf Zealand Poultry Journal. The production consists of 52 pages, and to issue thousands of copies entails considerable labor. The May issue far eclipses the April number. The printing of the illustrations is excellent and from a printer's point of view deserves great praise. When the first issue appeared a representative from the largest printing establishment in Australia, said "that Greymouth should r be proud of the excellent production," and when the citizens see the May issue of the Journal they will confirm this dictum. The Journal is full of interesting and instructive matter.- The editor has given some of his best work and his article on "New Zealand's Greatest Opportunity" should be read by everyone. It contains information that is new to most people. "Purloined Paragraph/' shows careful selection ancl wide reading. Under- the heading of "What Others Are Doing" correspondents from every part of the colony write interesting notes. No less than eight pages are devoted to this part of the Journal. In the "Correspondence" a very excellent letter is written criticising tho Government Poultry Farms. This letter is from a writer *in Taranaki, who evidently is sure of his ground. "The Poultryman —Money, Muscle and Mind" by P. D. Cornell, is splendid. Perhaps the finest part of tho Journal is the illustrated articles by the editor, in "A Commercial Poultry Farm," and "Tho Champions of the World." These are accompanied with fine plates and will be a revelation to readers. A considerable amount of information is given in "Duck-raising for Market." 'Kennel, Pigeon and Canary Notes" are ably written. ••.Home and Fireside," and "Our Young Folks' Column" make the Journal suitable for all classes of readers. Instead of being road by poultry readers, the Journal is going to command a wide circle of readers for the other information it contains. The proprietor has the good wishes of the Coast that file New Zealand Poultry Journal will grow to be the huge success ii deserves.
