Among the Ministerialists in the House of Commons, nearly 100 Churchmen are supporters of the general principles of the Education Bill and who do not oppose reasonable concessions. The Board of Trado here proposes that a Commission bo appointed to investigate the competition of British manufacturers in their encounter with Canada. The Toronto Star recommends the establishment of branch factories similar to the United States rivals. A Royal Commission has been appointed to enquire into the working of the vivisection law. . In the House of Lords the Colonial Marriages Bill was read a second tune without division. Lord Elgin explained that the bill legalises in Britain both past and future colonial marriages with a deceased "wife's sister between persons domiciled in the colonies, and it was not retrospective as regards property. Ho said there was strong feeling in the colonics on the subject, and in the interests of the Empire tho grievance should bu removed.
Lords Strathcona, Jarnt's and Lansdowne supported the measure, while Lords Halifax and Salisbury opposed
The House of Lords unanimous!}' upheld the decision of tho Appeal Court in the Denaby Collieries ease versus tho Yorkshire Miners' Association, concerning tho granting of money to strikers, which was cabled on May 20th, 1905. The Dulwich election resulted:— Bonar Law (0.) 6709, _ Williamson 5450 The increased majority is ascribed to dissatisfaction over tho Education Bill and the Budget, especially over the income tax.
