PERSONAL NOTES

The appointment of Mr C. N. Poole as Deputy Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages at Kuniara is recorded. Captain J. C. McFarlane, of the First Westland Rifles, has been appointed Major of the Second Nelson Infantry Battalion. Mr H. A. Maude has been appointed judge at the Greymouth Poultry Show, to be held on July 11 and 12. Mr Maude who has lately returned to Sydney from England, wasj it will be remembered, judge at the last show. Mr and Mrs Oxenham and family left for Christchurch yesterday morning, a large number of friends being on the railway platform to bid them good-bye. Mr Oxenham has taken a first-class house at Sumner, and, needless to say, visitors from the West Coast will receive a hearty welcome. We understand that already, intending visitors to the forthcoming exhibition have engaged rooms in MrOxonhara’s Hotel.
