Greymouth Evening Star, AND BRUNNERTON ADVOCATE. FRIDAY, MARCH 23, 1906. CHRISTCHURCH EXHIBITION.

We appear to be getting forward very slowly with exhibition matters on the West Coast. The interest taken in the matter is small. Wednesday

night's meeting was poorly attended, but this is partially accounted for by the fact that a number of committeemen were unavoidably absent through ' illness or other engagements. But what, quite apart from the small attendance, seemed to strike most of

those present, was the absence of any I unity on the Coast. No one wems to have a very clear idea of what is required or "what is expected from a particular dM(|ict.. If each district on the Coast is to have a separate exhibit then we fear" the result will he unworthy of this part of the colony. It is perfectly evident that something will require to be done to bring the disjointed West Coast atoms together and the sooner Mr Roberts take this task in hand the better. A strong personalty and a " strong lead is all that is required. The local sesr'iilaries are competent and energetic, but. liko tho committees, are cramped from want of knowledge as to the, general scheme for taa West Ouast. Ms Roberta, as Commlasionor, must]

develope and unfold the jian without delay. The appointment of sub committees on Wednesday nigat was a step in the right direction so far as details are concerned, but details are useless to wol'k upon without a general plan.
