Pro'ia.hle is tho making of a big horse, !.alo|i ing fairly safely. Star Shoot. Aorangi, ami Dalny did half-pace work. Operetta, Whakawehi, and Gold Sea! went five furlongs fresh in that order. Mataika, over six furlon ;s Murtyrfeldt finished well in front of Cinque over six furlongs. Waipunchu, .Mecca, and Lord Rosebory galloped five furlongs'. Needlework, Matapiro finished together after covering a mile. C'a.t.spaw .spun over three furlongs at a

Mahutonga has been knocked completely hack in the quotations for the Melbourne Cup, 100 to 1 being offered in eonsequeiiee of the assumption that the horse is being reserved for New Zealand engagements. In doubles for ihe two Cup.s, Roller and Marmont are supported to win £4OOO at 1000 to 1 : Stonout and Marmont For £SOOO at ihe same price.
