i UKEiJix, This Day. Rev Dr 'Wouldell yesterday completed liis twenty-lifth year as pastor of St Andrew’s Church. Anniversary services both at forenoon and afternoon were held before crowded congregations. The harrier season was successfully inaugurated on Saturday. This sport promises lo be largely availed of this winter. J. McComb has instructed Mr Wilford to abandon his appeal to the Racing Conference in re his disqualification by the Canterbury Jockey Club for foul riding in the last New Zealand Cup. Mr C. E. Haughton, who represented Wakatipu in the General Assembly in the seventies, and was for a time Un-der-Secretary for Defence and Immigration, died this morning. Latterly he has followed the journalistic profession. T. Mackenzie, M.H.R., was re-elec-ted, unopposed, Mayor of Roslyn. The Drainage Board will send •i, deputation to interview the Minister of Marine at Wellington re refusal of Government to pass the Board’s plans for Bird Island as a drainage outfall.
