[per PRESS ASSOCIATION. —COPYRIGHT.
Madrid, Dec 21. The French Ambassador to Spain, receiving an anonymous letter stating the Humberts are in Madrid, informed the police, who recognised Emil Remain and Eve Daurignac, who are implicated in the frauds. Entering a house the police guarded every egress and summoned them to surrender. They received no answer for twenty minutes. The interval, was utilised to destroy papers in the lavatories. The police were finally admitted and Monsieur, Marie and Madame Humbert, Emil Remain and Eve Daurignac were arrested.
The gendarmes prevented Humbert’s escape through the window. #The prisoners reached Madrid on Dec. 9th, and state that they were anxious for extradition to enable them to denounce the lawyer, M Cattans, as the author of all their misfortunes.
