Miss Fitzmaurice Gill and her talented Company which open here at the Opera Hpuse on Friday m-x-, under the direction of Mr H. J. Hansen, are probably the finest and most powerful dramatic organisation that has yet appeared in tnese parts. Not only are the performers of the best, but the plays to be produced are the most successful of recent years. ‘■Man to Man” the opening production is by Wilnam Browne. It is a sensational drama in five acts, and its success has been phenomenal. It has obtained a magnetic hold of playgoers all the world over. The second production will be Hall Caine’s most popular novel “The Christian” dramatised to suit the public taste. The third piece will be the popularmelodrama “Work and Wages” with its wealth of fine scenery, interesting and sustaining plot and popular comedy. Another production will be “The Sign of the Cross” by special arrangements with J. C. Williams Esq Th’s play is really the “play of the century.” Nothing yet produced has made the impression that this play has upon all theatre goers, Sardon’s sublime tragedy "Fedora” will also be given and others are in active rehearsal. As will be seen from this the company have an exceedingly fine repertoire and as these will be presented by a fine company our readers can look forward to a real treat. Miss Gill herself is one of Australia’s most prominent actresses. Her unbounded popularity is on the increase and nndoubt local theatre goers will appreciate her acting to its full extent.' Her company has been judiciously selected from the best talent in the dramatic line in the colonies. Each and every member of the company has a reputation that extends over nearly all the best successes of recent years. The staging and scenery will be on a magnificent scale and far ahead of anything ever shewn here in this line. Mr William Eenno, one of the cleverest mechanists in the colonies, has been specially engaged to stage these pieces.
