Particulars of the concert and dance to be held next Wednesday at the Aorere Hall, in aid of the funds of the Aorere Defence Rifle Club, a; e given in our advertising columns. The evening’s entertainment promises to be most enjoyable, as among the contributors to the concert are the following ladies and gentlemen : —Misses Malloy, Nalder, and Delaney ; Mesdames Fish and Maden ; Messrs Maden, West, Keoghau, Hickmott, Diamond, H. B. Riley, Duffy, Chinn, and others. A dance will follow the concert. During the day the Club will have firing practice, and a match between old and new members ol the Club, for trophies, will be fired. Altogether Rockville is going to have a sort of a gala day, which should attract a goodly number of spectators.

The sudden deaths have occurred in Nelson this week of two wellknown residents. Just prior to taking charge of the S.S. Lady Barkly on Friday, Captain Henry Young, for many years a-trader to this Port, dropped dead in the street, while talking to a friend. On Tuesday last while entering the gate of his residence about 1 p.m. for lunch, the Hon. Francis Trask M L.C., fell back and immediately expired in the arms of a friend who accompanied him. The cause of death in both cases was heart disease.
