THE GOLDEN BAY ARGUS (FIAT JUSTITIA, RUAT CŒLUM.) THURSDAY, Feb. 7, 1907.

The Golden Bay A and P. Show, held at Takaka last Friday was one of the best and most successful held for some years. The Show was opened by the Hon. J. Carroll, Native Minister. We regret that our report of the Show, already in type is crowded out of this issue. Sittings of the local Courts will be held on Thursday next, 14th instant. There is quite a large accumulation of business for disposal. Before the Magistrate there are several civil cases and pension claims ; while the Warden has to deal with nineteen applications, some of which are objeqted to. The Court sits at 10 a. m. The exhaustive examination made of the Aorere Bridge by the County Inspector disclosed that the bridge was in such a state ns to be actually dangerous for traffic, and the Council elsewhere announces that persons using the same do so at their own risk. Waggoners should accept this timely warning. Constable Foley, of Collingwood has just received his medal for long service and good conduct in the N.Z. Police Force. Mr Greenwood, dentist, is here, and may be consulted until noon to-morrow. A meeting of the Committee of the recently formed Jockey Club was held on Tuesday evening last at the Institute when ihere was a full attendance, the President, Mr G. H. Allan, presiding. A rough statement presented showed that the club had about ,£75 to work upon, of which ,£SO was allocated to stakes for the forthcoming meeting in April, and the balance towards preparing the course. A sub-committee, consisting of Messrs G. James, J. Hickraott, H. Brewer, Q. Palmer and J. Riley, was appointed to carry out the work in connection with the course with power to get Mr Dillon to layoff the racing track and expend up to £2 5. After transacting other formal business, the meeting adjourned to Saturday, 16th instant.
