TRAINING FOR WIFEHOOD.
Thomas Day, the author of “ Sanford and Merton,” undertook to train a wife to suit himself, but found the young woman intractable. When he tried to school her to fortitude by dropping melted sealing wax on her arm, she screamed; when, he tested her fidelity by telling her he was going to kill the chambermaid that night she sent word to a sergeant of constabulary who came to inquiro into the ruattgr. Worst of all, sho finally disappointed huh Dy ‘running oif with a young fellow of the neighbourhood, whereupon he striaghtway fell in love with a young woman who did him an evil turn by marrying him and making him miserable.
