GRAIN AND PRODUCE
AUCKLAND MARKET PRICES POTATOES STEADY (Per Pres® Association) Auckland, February 27 The most notablo change in tile grain and produce market since last report has been a rise in the price of local pollard. At this season of the year there is usually a strong demand and stocks are being worked down, as merchants have not advanced the price of Australian, lue natural consequences will be to direct more attention to the imported article, there has been no alteration in bran quotations. The southern chaff market is a .ittle easier, but there is no change in the local position, and B Garton oats are still being quoted at 3/3 a bushel. Oaten sheaf chaff is in moderate demand at £7/10/- to £7/15/- a ton. Prices of fowl feed have shown little change in recent months. There is a good steady demand. Potatoes from Pukekolie are in steady supply and merchants are now quoting these in wholesale quantities an a basis of £7/10/- a ton through store. A few lines of South Island potatoes have reached this market, but it is too early- in the season for them to carry well, and merchants ire not inclined to send orders south 10 long as Pukekolie supplies hold jut. Onions are in steady demand at ibout 7/- a cwt.
