Catapults to be utilised for the purpose of launching sea planes from the vessels while at sea are to be installed on cruisers in the near future. In making the announcement, the acting-Prime Minister, Mr J. G. Latham, stated that the* arrangements were at present in tile final stage s cf completion hv Common wealth defence experts. He added that following many tests by the navy of various type* of catapults one of satisfactory design had been di'seov" ered. It i- claimed that the new equipment is quite eaual in efficiency to the launching gear installed on the vessels of any oilier navy in the world.
