GRAVE PERIL
I)AN G Ell FOR CHILDREN The danger of children climbing trees that adjoin power lines lias been forcibly brought to the notice of Matamata residents recently. Some children climbed a tree growing- at the corner of Purwood and Ma-ngawhcro roads Matamata', and touched the wires, fortunately without suffering: mishap. As a consequence it has been decided to fall the tree. The- chairman of the Powei Hoard. Mr J. Price, said it seemed strange that persons who saw the children touch the wires had not notified (he hoard at once, so that the source o J danger could have been dealt with immediately. Ft was rc markable that tbe children were not electrocuted. Apparent!) the fact that thev stood on th n dry trunk of the tree saved them. Had the trunk b“CP damp, or had the-w also touched an earthed (telephone wire;, thev would have received a see shock.
