Manly, Sydney, bv Albert Barry, a Crown Prosecutor, and former leading swimmer, who lost a leg at tlie Great "War. Residents heard calls for heln ar G. 30 a.m., and Barry hastened from bis home in Warren Court, which adjoins tlie pool. His progress was impeded bv bis crutches and, in hurrying over the uneven ground lie tell twice before reaching the water’s edge. The woman had been swept out about 40 yards, but Barry, who is a strong swimmer, threw away his crutches and soon had her ashore. Tlie woman was not seriously affected and. after a short rest, left for her home.
