RUSSIA AND CANADA ON THE BARTER PLAN (Aust. and N.Z. Cable) Ottawa, Jan. IX Negotiations in connection with the proposed exchange of Canadian cattle for Russian oil are at a standstill. Stt far tlu> Canadian Government has given no indication of its attitude towards the proposal, although unofficial reports credit the Prime Minister, Mr R. B. Bennett, with turning down th(‘ scheme, which involves the sole of 100,000 cattle t’o Russia.
