FIFTH BIRTHDAY

OF THE FEI LIVING BHANFH WOMEN’S DIVISION, N.Z.P.TJ. Tliere was a record attendance in the Oddfellows’ Hall: last Friday afternoon to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the T’eildino- branch of the Women's Division of the Farmers Union. An apology for absence was received from the Mayoress (Mrs Taylor). Many messages contained wishes for a happy birthday. The hall had been beautifully decorated by Mrs H. Foster (secretary) and Mrs A. O. Simpson of Wn iata, the many flowers used havin'? been pi yen hv Mrs J. a. Cobbe. The many members and visitors were received by the President, Mrs ,T. Williamson of Taotiui. Official visitors present were: Mrs W. F. Stevens (president of Well nipt on provincial council), Miss Simpson (president rtf .Marlon branch!. Airs H. A. Good all (president ol' Tlnlls branch), Mrs Andrew Brown, (vice-president of Ashburton branch), Mrs F. Brice, secretary Marton branch'/. An enjoyable and entertainin'? concert programme was contributed to by Mrs •). G. Eliott and her daughters (instrumental), Mrs Coppiek and Miss Elsie Green, (songs) and Miss V. Burltrop ( monologue), the accompaniments being playeu by Mrs Foster. Mrs Eliott played for a musical competition, which was won by Mrs E. (’. Ferguson of liajcombe. Prominent on the sumptuously spread table stood the handsome birthday cake, equippei with five candle. Again Mrs Cobbe generously provided this cake and she was asked to make the first cut into it.
