COMMISSIONER CONFIDENT BOROUGH COUNCIL WELCOME Per Press Association. Thames, October 1. The newly-appointed borough com. missaoner, Mr G. L. Grange was extended a hearty welcome and assured of co-operation by the Borough Council at it s final meeting'. The Mayor, Mr S. Ensor. spoke of Mr Grange’s unanimous appointment, and said it was very pleasing ito know that in the. opinion of thecouncil’s representative in Welling-, ton Mr “Grange was the most suitable man for-the position.-Nothing would be left undone to assist him in solving tho problems of the borough. Mr Grange expressed appreciation of the assurance of assistance. He fully realised that he would require the full co-operation and assistance of every institution in the town. He had been particularly struck when in Wellington with the warmth of feeling existing between the coun-
cil’s repjresentatives, the Government representative and debenture holders and others interested in the rehabilitation of Thames. From the brief survey ho had been able to make since his arrival he was satisfied that. Tliame s would some back, though it was a very difficult matter, and a lot of unpleasant things might happen Tn the. process. The council’s welcome support would give him further encouragement. The Mayor presented each councillor and the town clerk, Mr A. Chapman, with a silver pencil inscribed with initials and 1931-32 as a memento of their association.
