PROGRESS BEING MADE . IN HOKIANGA COUNTY Settlement of the Broadwood block of land under the small farm, scheme modified by the advice of the Hokianga County Council, is well under way. Farm /houses, and outbuildings, Built in sections at Otahuhu, have been shipped and taken by lorry L; Broadwood and asseiu; led thru?. Several aro already finished and the applicants are obtaining cows and machinery. By the end of the month ihe Broadwood -small farm settlement should be in working order. Matters are not so forward with the Te Karao block, where there has l>eon a slight hitch regarding- conditions. Thi s has now been overcome and settlers ore already preparing the camp on sections to do fencing, clearing- and draining. Already the scheme has taken men off relief work. A number of applications to sell or let land, and proposals to take up sections, were received by the County Council, but nothing definite was done.
