RATING’S COMMISSION WAIIRAXT GAZETTED FIRST ON THE STATION (Per Press Association.) ■Wellington, Sept. 13 The first promotion in the New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy of a native-born lower-deck rating to commissioned rank has been gazette I. lie is Mr. G. R. Davis-Goff, acting gunner (torpedoes). Joining the navy as a seaman boy in 1021. Mr. Davis-Goff has reached the warrant officer rank at just under 27 years of ago. lie proceeded progressively to ordinary seaman in 11)22. aide seaman in 1024, leading seaman in 1027, an l petty officer in 1030. Mr. Davis-Goff is now in England, and will serve in either the Home licet or 'Mediterranean fleet for a year before lie returns to New Zealand.
