A PRISONER'S REQUEST REFUSED BY JUDGE SMITH SENTENCE OF FOUR YEARS (pe: Press Assoc iation Auckland, August 12. Clifford Dahl in. who was* found guilty of false pretences, came up for bontoiu-c t< -day. Tn a written statement he made the unusual request to Air Justice Smith to impose a short term of imprisonment and coi-poral punishment instead of a h.*ng term. The judge said accused had conspired to defraud an old man of £I2OO. Tlie <* nspiracy was Impudent and earvfiillv planned. Accused's request, could m t be granted, as th’’ law did not allow it.
