OFFER i | Bright features are reported to be evident ujwm a more active market for New Zealand dairy produce in London and the favourable indications for the new season continue with a slight advance in prices and a lirming of values. An offer -was ma le this week in the Manawatu of ll.ld f.o.b. for the August output of butter by one of the large factories.
HAPPY AUGURY' Better prices in London followed ; by increasing f.o.b. offers, despite the j lull in forward activity at this period of the year owing to small stocks I being available, are held out as a ■ nappy augury of much improved coni lit ions. It is pointed out that the : forward position appears to lie much better at. present that it was at the corresponding period of last year. Butter is firmer at K>7s to 109 s per < wt. compared with 108 s to 109 s at this time last year, a negligible difference with the outlook jnvfch more favourable at present rowing to the ■sound statistical position.
GROUND FOR COX r FIDFXOE There is considered to be some ground for confidence -hi the immediI ate future in view of the fact that i butter stocks held hi London at lire* ! sent are over 3000 toils less than what they were at this time last year. Optimistic comment lias been made on the steadiness *Of the market which lias not been apparent for 12 months, and which is considered to indicate a strong demand. It is anticipated that further rises in the market are likely.
THREE MONTHS’ FIGURES The range of butter values over j the past three months’'is,-amply il--1 lust rated by the figures, which reveal. a rise of 14s from the low value of 93s to 95s touched fet* New Zealand salted in May 20 last. The trend of prices lias shown a gradual, hut consistent advance since that date, values being as follow: May 27. 90s to 98s: .Tune 3. 97s to 995: June 10. 94 f s to 90s* June 17, 95s to 975: June 21, 90s to 98s; July 1. 98s to 10s; July 8,100 s to 102 s; July 15, 105 s to 100 s; July 22. 105 s to 107 s; July 29, 105 s to 100 s; August 0. 104 s to 107 s; August 17, 107 s to 109 s.
