MOTOR TRADES
AUCKLAND ASSOCIATION AN OPTIMISTIC OUTLOOK (Per Press Association) Auckland, Aug. 12. At the annual meeting of the Auckland Motor Trade: Association Mr J. F. Cousins, of Wellington, general secretary to the Now Zealand association, expressed the opinion that the bottom of the depression had been reached. All the indications pointed to an economic recovery, > n the opinion of Mr Cousins, who also mentioned the value of motor taxation as a means of earning revenue for the .Government, it was the only branch of revenue which had exceeded the estimate, the actual amount in excess, at the end of tho past financial year, being .£56,000. The number of motor cars relieonsed 'compared very favourably with the position obtaining last year. The position was likely to improve because numbers of cars which had been out of use for the past two years were being relicensed.
