SUCCESSFUf. FEED TRIALS FEAR S ACTIVITIES REVIEWED (Per Press Association) Hamilton. Aug. 12. The useful work being- carried out by the Waikato Pig Recording Club in showing farmers how lo produce porkers of the right type and at the minimum of cost and rime as described in the report submit led by the chairman of the club, Air E. E. Hale, of Hamilton, at the annual meeting. Air Hale states that in the last year 127 records and 27 feed trials had been completed, while 15 winter feed trials with meal, meat and bone meal, whey paste, and mineral pow-der-u ere in progress. Considering the adverse climatic and economic conditions that were being experienced the results had been satisfactory. Three shipments of feed trial porkers, numbering 50 carcases, had been sent to England, and the (reports received were most- encouraging and definitely demonstrated that the porkers were of the type demanded by tfic Homo trade. Them was no doubt that the information collected by the club since recording was commenced three years ago was going to be a very important factor m the future progress of the pig industry in New Zealand. Continuing, Mr Male says the feed trials conducted by the club emphasised the great value of meat meal as a .supplement to either skim milk or whey. Mr Hale expresses appreciation of the action of the New Zealand Meat Producers' Board in renewing iis grant of to the club.
