PORTUGUESE RECEPTION REMAINS REACH CAPITAL When tile British cruiser, the Concord, carrying tile body of ex-King Manuel, readied Tagus site was met by an escort of Portuguese seaplanes and two Japanese warships. A salute of 21 guns was tired from the fortress as the Concord passed up the river. British sailors carried the Coffin ashore, where it was handed over to the Portuguese authorities and conveyed to St. Vincent’s Church on a gun carriage. Great crowds lined the quays and streets for the State funeral.
