NAVAL CONTRACTS COMING DEFERRED PR<IGRAMJIES (Aust. And N.Z. Cablo) 1.-nu.liiri. Aug. 10. The liaily Telegraph's naval expert says that 1 k'tween now and Mafeii next contracts are being placed for Britain's warship building programme which would normally have been spread over two years. These concern the programme for 10111 and 10.12, the former having been held back for IS months. A cbnsorvat ive estimate of the total expenditure is £20.000,000. on all but negligible traction going to British labour an l materials. The programmes include four 7000ton Beander class cruisers, two 5500ton Arethusa cruisers, two flotilla leaders. 10 destroyers, eight sloops, six submarines, two gunboats and three depot or auxiliary ships.
