In a comprehensive report submitted to the Maimwatu Youth Employment and "Welfare Committee last evening, tlie opportunities in the city are few and far between. There are apparently several restrictions generally militating against the employment of hoys ami these were reported to be ehiellly a distinct disinclination among employers to apprentice hoys in that they were too costly, and (lie fact: that staffs were already considerably in excess of requirements. The report was regarded as a very valuable one by the Welfare Committee and a special vote of thanks was passed to Messrs .1. J. O’Shea and A. Shelton, who undertook to interview businessmen to ascertain, tlie position and draw nr> a report.
