SPLENDID SCHEME TO EMPLOY 500 BOYS (Per Dress Association.) Christchurch. Aug. 8. A scheme planning for the employment of 500 boys during tbo month of September, with the ultimate object of securing permanent j>ositions for as. many of the 500 as x>o sible, was discussed anil approved by a representative meeting of business groups and welfare organisations. The scheme, with h has t>een lrawn up by Air. J. 11. Hay. of Hay’s Ltd. drapers, aims to support the effort with a campaign for increased business, with special inducements to the public for increased spending, such as attractive displays and lower prices in the shops, railway and tramway .'concessions, a publicity campaign and various devices in the way of entertainment to create the atmosphere of a shopping fair.
