TIMELY WARNING
Now Zealand has now command of the ether through a Broadcasting Board set up by the Government, which has- full charge of all radio activities and operations. The. members are just settling down to their unusual duties and are busily en-
gaged in the work of organising broadcasting for the benefit of the hundreds of thousands of listeners in. We waul'd like the Board to take heed from Australia’s expensive experience in the matter of the monopoly of the Australian Pen-form ing Ttights Association the tenaoles of which reach even into New Zealand. Parliament has not yet intervened regarding the impositions of the A.P.B.A. on the other sde, but it is being appealed to. The New Zealand Broadcasting Board should explore tlie whole question a s a matter Of urgency and make its own arrangements and terms befeiro the A.P.8..A. gets in first and imposes its will on New Zealand enterprise. There i- a great difference between a sweet reasonableness in terms and the ‘harshness of monopoly.
