REWARD FOR RANGER

PROTECTION OF GAME ACCLIMATISATION SOCTEY The Auckland Acclimatisation Society has granted a reward of £4 to an honorary ranger at Helensville for information supplied, leading to the conviction of a man caught shooting ducks out of season. In moving that the amount be granted the president, Mr F. E. McKenzie, said he thought such work of honorary rangers should be encouraged. It was decided to spend £25 on the importation of eg'gs of the blue wing olive, a type of water moth common in England. The moth provides good feed for trout, causing them to become surface feeders.
