The Australian Jockey .Club's Anniversary meeting, at Randwick opened in fine - weather. Challenge .V/lakos,, 6 -furlongs— Golden Gate 1, (Holdfast .2, Tom Pinch 3.. -Nineteen started, including Pentheus, Bay Acre and Financial. Although Tom Pinch was in front 100 yards from home he tired, and Golden Gate won by 1 neck. Time 1.11.
