Afusieal critics have given appre(iativo notes to Arthur Benjamin’s one-act opera. “Devil Take Her,’ the libretto which was written by the late Alan Collat'd, a New Zealander. Sir Thomas Beecltam paid the composer the compliment of conducting the first performance at the Royal College of Music, where it had an enthusiastic reception. (Tlie late .Mr. Collanl was for some years on the literary staff of tbe Christchurch Sun.)
